What I've really been reading/enjoying for the past 4 years. I've noticed that I'm not reading a lot of YA anymore.

YA will always have a place in my heart but it's not quite the same anymore. Not entirely sure if that's a me thing or the type of books I'm grabbing but yeah 2/

But then there's the clean-up from that, especially with the epiphanies I had (Guys, I might be too proud! Who knew?!) so I haven't read because I've been navel-gazing & general adult stuff. I do plan on reading today but I don't expect much.

I'm thinking 35 books for now but that might change in December. Right now, I've given up on about 20 books so I don't know if 35 is too high or low yet. *Gasps* THE YEAR OF THE BOOK BLITZ!! I love it!

I just feel like I'm getting handouts from them & I'm way too stubborn for my own good. I'm trying to learn to ask for help but again, big feelings, especially with a trip to LA in October.

A second chance romance (Squee!!) and Helene Tursten's An Elderly Lady Is Up To No Good. I already started Tempting Fate and I forgot how impossible it is to put down Sara's books when you get started. She hits the ground running with great, sympathetic characters. I love it

I also couldn't get the book's tone. It was a SF teen spy book set post WWI and I didn't know if it was more pulpy or serious

It led to me & Mom (Who also tried) having a convo about establishing the tone of your story while worldbuilding, either with a prologue or pure style

& since August was secretly 6 months long, I didn't read much. Also, I have abandoned the TBR goal and it's slowly growing again. I'm also feeling manic so I might start picking other books too. I don't know yet.

Curse of the Pharaohs. I didn't enjoy this as much as the 1st but mostly cuz I didn't enjoy the cast as much (or the fatphobia). I love Amelia & Emerson's marriage. It's an interesting blend of antagonistic & loving. I could see how one could make wrong assumptions about them 2/

For when I need to listen to something low stakes and fun. I also recommend listening to the audiobook because the actor does a great job with the tone. The series is poking fun at the pulpy adventures book and with every "Not to brag but I'm AMAZING" Amelia drops, you feel it 4/

I'll try to finish that last ARC I have and possibly start Tristan Strong Keeps Punching (AKA Black Generaltion Trauma Attacks Jess In Her Feels But With African Diaspora Mythology!) this weekend. Likely on audiobook because screens and holding things are overrated. 5/6
