GJ Reviews: "The Blonde Who Came In from the Cold" By Ally Carter

Thank you to Avon and Harper Voyager and NetGalley for giving me an ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own

Synopsis according to GJ: A year after her eventful disappearance, Alexander Sterling (The real one this time, swear!) wakes up handcuffed in a shack with no recollection of how she got there. Worst of all, she's handcuffed to fellow spy (And former flame) Michael Kingsley. Forced on the run, the two must find the answers of who's after them and confront the past, in more ways than one.

Review:  First off, I want apologize for such a late review. Between work and mental health problems (Namely grief), I've neglected this review and I'm sorry. I'm sure it's nothing to you all but I want to hold myself accountable and frame the mindset this review is coming from.

So I was excited for this book. I've already stated that I'm a sucker for Carter's writing since her Gallagher Girls series. I've also really enjoyed her recent return to adult fiction (Although I need news on her Winterbourne Home series, please and thank you).

So imagine my surprise when I found myself really struggling with this book. I didn't immediately think it was the book's fault. I've been dealing with a relative's death and my ability to read has dwindled to a smother for a while now. Still, I thought one of my favorite writer's latest book would be the shock to the system that I needed

Sadly, I couldn't connect with this book as much as I'd hoped. I think it's lacking some of the charm of her past work while not being as compelling of a mystery. I DNF'd around 25%.

I might return to it later but after all this time, I figured I owed you all a review
