WednesdayBookClub: Indie Bookstore Day Approaches!

Another week, another book club, everyone! Just a friendly reminder that this Saturday is Independent Bookstore Day in the US so if you can, go support your local indie bookstore. Go buy something, shout them out on social media, tell people that your area has a local indie and how important they are!

So with that said, let's talk about books

WednesdayBookClub: 04/17/24 WE BOOK BLITZING, BABY

Welcome to another WednesdayBookClub, everyone! I hope everyone is having a good week, despite everything. I got stung by a wasp Monday and I'd like to announce that I will no longer be going outside until fall comes back. This has never been my season and I hoped to push this respite until May but alas, nature be wildin'.

Let's talk books, shall we?

So this week, I finally DNF'd and wrote my review for Twelfth Night. Review is here but TLDR, didn't think I was enjoying the being in our MC's brains but I'm glad this book exists.

So once I had that out of the way, I felt really restless so I grabbed some books from the library and requested two from NetGalley. So I have in my possessions

Audiobooks:

  • The Murder of Mr. Wickham (Austen characters in a murder mystery with Darcy's oldest son and Catherine Tilney's daughter solving the crime)
  • When No One Is Watching (Rear Window but with gentrification)
  • In Which Matilda Halifax Learns the Value of Restraint (Regency Romance

And Ebooks

  • My Kind of Trouble by L.E. Schwartz (ARC, comtemptorary romance)
  • The Ghosts of Tupelo Landing (MG Mystery)

And that's it for me. What about you all?

GJ Reviews: "Twelfth Night" By Alexene Farol Follmuth

Thank you to Tor Publishing and NetGalley for sending me an advance copy in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I'm a sucker for Shakespeare retellings in general but especially Twelfth Night. The 1996 adaption (With Tobey Stephens doing the absolute most) was my introduction to The Bard and I've been hooked ever since. I also love a prickly heroine so this felt like it was meant for me.

WednesdayBookClub: An Audiobook Club

Hello, everyone and welcome to another book club! First off I want to remind everyone that in the US, Indie Book Store Day is April 27 and Free Comic Book Day is May 4. I hope all of you will spend the day support your local bookstores, either by spending money there or just hyping them up on social media to let people know they exist!

Now that we have that PSA out of the way, onwards to our regularly scheduled book club

WednesdayBookClub: Progress Ahead?

Hello all and welcome to another book club! I hope you all are doing okay in your corners of the world. I'm currently writing this with my great nephew  trying to eat one of his blankets. (BTWS, Niece's son, not my superlative nephew. Although he is adorbs)

Anyway, let's start book club!

So I'm still in my arc. I have made some progress (A whole 5%!) and alas, I must confess.....I don't think I'm feeling it. Yes, you read it correctly, dear reader. I've worn myself into a tizzy about how my excutive dysfunction coming for my reading only for me to remember that not liking the book is very likely.

I don't have much to go off so I'm gonna push myself to about 20% or until I pin down what I don't like, whichever comes first. Also, I fear we have a book blitz coming up soon. I feel it in the wind

Anyway, what about you all? Anything good?
