First WBC of 2025: A Look Back On 2024

Welcome to 2025, gang. Glad to see you made it. So 2024 kinda ended with a fart in the last 2 months but I wanted to take this time to look back on the year and applaud all of you for your support.

So I think we got an extra 5 people in for Book Club this year! Obviously, growth isn't one of a marker of success for me. I have too much Millienial Stranger Danger in me to accept growth without caution but I'm glad for the continued support of Book Club. I've basically revived this thing 4 times now (?) and I'm only able to do that because of you all. There's a reason why I call myself the Keeper of Book Club instead of calling it My Book Club. Because it isn't mine. Everything here now and what will be here is because of us all. Thank you

Because of you all, I was also able to take basically a 2 month hiatus. For those not in the know, I was wrestling with the American healthcare system and just couldn't muster *up a post. Thankfully, friends eagerly volunteered to take over for me and insisted that I take a break. Shout out to Fannie, ArchNemesis, Mythbri, Gem, Jinxe for yelling at me to rest!

Real talk, 2024 ran me ragged. Not in a way where I wave the white flag but in a way where if 2024 was a person, I'd cuss them out with the fury of a naval engineer. I lived but you know what you did. Strep, ear infection, learning how to do a podcast, new job, wrestling with my baby great nephew,  nuking my twitter account to officially make the crossover to Bluesky, my brother's death, what I heavily suspect was the overt symptoms of autistic burnout. A lot happened this year, some good, some bad and some that we've yet to see what's to come.

Let's go, 2025. Higher, further, faster.
