WednesdayBookClub: 7/30/25

Hello and welcome, everyone! Head's up, I'm getting ready for a religious convention and then I go back to work so if the next two book clubs feel a little short and snappy, that's why.

I'm both excited and trying to remind my brain that I don't have to get everything done right this moment. But enough about that, book club time!!

GJ Reviews: "History Lessons" by Zoe B. Wallbrook

Thank you to NetGalley and RBMedia for giving me a copy of the audiobook in exchange for a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own

I'm a sucker for cozy mysteries. It's one of my go-to book genres and I'm always on the look-out for a Black women led cozy mystery. So when I saw the amazing cover and the description, I thought I give this a try

WednesdayBookClub: A Musical Book Club? 07/23/25

Hello and welcome to book club! So recently I was talking to a friend about listening to music while reading so I decided to ask you all: What are you listening to while you reading? Or are you one of those people who can't listen to music?

Honestly, I hate silence so I'm usually listening to music throughout the day.

WednesdayBookClub: Self Care Days

Hello, gang! I hope you all are staying cool and hydrated this past week!

So I had two pretty bad meltdowns this past week (One because I was really tired and trying to push myself to do something and the other because I woke up feeling way too aware of my skin) so I'm making sure to prioritize my mental health for a while. I've watched a new movie and I've finally gotten inspired to knit again and it's seemed to unlock something

But enough about me. Let's talk books

So last week, I used my 3 audible credits (I got a deal of 3 months for .99 cents) so I got John Green's Anthroprocene Reviewed (Which I already listened to and adored),  Mary Robinette Kowal's The Calculating Stars and Rebeca Makkai's The Hundred-Year House. I haven't read the last two and the audiobooks aren't at my library so I got them.

I also got approved for Zoey Wallbrook's History Lessons. I've just started a frankly ridiculous knitting project for my mental health so I'll listen to the books while I work on them.

What about you all? Anything good?

WednesdayBookClub: 07/09/25 Checking In

Okay, os I know last week,, I did a check in for everyone with their reading goals but this week, I wanted to check in emotionally? With the flooding in Texas, the heat and the general um, 1940s vibes in the air, I figured I'd ask.

I'm trying to enjoy the last month of vacation before school starts and recovering from the weekend fireworks. It thankfully wasn't that bad in my neighborhood but someone asked me how I was Sunday night and I only realize then how disconnected I was from my body. I still kinda am? I don't know but this is a self care week since I spent the week distracting myself

As for reading, no real reading but I *did* touch grass and played Pokemon! I also did some research for a future video.

What about you all? Anything good?

Hello and welcome to WednesdayBookClub, gang!! We're officially halfway through the year and while the vibe is off, we can still use this time to look back on the year and celebrate the good stuff we've read!

Also, go drink water!! It's too hot
