A Gloomy, Snotty Book Club: 09/24/25

Hello, all! So the temperture dropped for two seconds and now my sinuses are draining. Nothing too bad and I'm wearing a mask when I'm not in my house so if it's something bigger, I don't spread it to anyone else.  So far, I just have a foggy head and a running nose (No sore throat though so yay!).

So this is gonna be a quick book club because I want tea and food before I go back to sleep

WednesdayBookClub: Too Sleepy To Think Book Club

I really gotta stop doing these with no coffee in my system. *Clear throat* *Cranks up David Bowie* ALRIGHT, IT'S BOOK CLUB TIME, GANG!!

Before we get started, I wanted to give a shout out to the lovely ArchNemesis for taking over last week and honestly, everyone in book club. Most of book club is yall commenting and you all are always so encouraging and always advocate for self care and I think that's neat! Truly a great corner of the internet to be a part of, gang, and I want you to know I appreciate that.

Ew, is non caffeinated me more sentimental? I don't like that BOOK CLUB TIME!!

WednesdayBookClub: Sudden Vacation

Hello all and welcome to Book Club! So I had a rougher week at work. I worked solo shifts and to borrow from Pacific Rim, that's a job that's easier when you have someone to share the neural load with. Thankfully, I found someone who could take my shift while I rest up!

Oh, and I'm not sure if BlueSky got my account settle but so far, I don't need a VPN on my devices connect to my home wifi. Still need it on mobile when I'm out though. Anyway, let's talk books!

WednesdayBookClub: A Sneaky Book Club?

Hello, all! So I'm not sure how many of you know this but recently, the state of Mississippi just placed an age assurance law in place and one of the site affected by it is BlueSky. Bluesky, in turn, has basically blocked the site for anyone with a MS IP.

GUESS WHO GOT HIT WITH THIS DESPITE NEVER LIVING IN MS?!?! I live by the MS border and I got hit with it. Even when I'm more north, it's still doing this. Hilariously, my sister AB is fine (Despite working in MS and us living together). Honestly, I'm more insulted that they think I'm from MS than anything. I know other folks are dealing with worse and I'm currently privileged enough not to deal with this law more but it's still annoying.

Anyway, I'm being sneaky and using a VPN. Let's talk books.

WednesdayBookClub: Calls to Action?

Hello, everyone! I hope you all had a good week. I'm feeling a bit better now. Still not pushing myself but feeling a little steadier.

Also, I owe you all a pic of my knitting WIP. I'll add it this week, I swear. Let's do a little house cleaning right quick

WednesdayBookClub: A Trudge-y Book Club

Hello all and welcome to this week's book club. Second week back in school and wow, I feel out of it. I'm really feeling the burnout this week but thankfully, we're still on the easy stuff/reaffirming what the kids learned last year.

WednesdayBookClub: 7/30/25

Hello and welcome, everyone! Head's up, I'm getting ready for a religious convention and then I go back to work so if the next two book clubs feel a little short and snappy, that's why.

I'm both excited and trying to remind my brain that I don't have to get everything done right this moment. But enough about that, book club time!!

GJ Reviews: "History Lessons" by Zoe B. Wallbrook

Thank you to NetGalley and RBMedia for giving me a copy of the audiobook in exchange for a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own

I'm a sucker for cozy mysteries. It's one of my go-to book genres and I'm always on the look-out for a Black women led cozy mystery. So when I saw the amazing cover and the description, I thought I give this a try

WednesdayBookClub: A Musical Book Club? 07/23/25

Hello and welcome to book club! So recently I was talking to a friend about listening to music while reading so I decided to ask you all: What are you listening to while you reading? Or are you one of those people who can't listen to music?

Honestly, I hate silence so I'm usually listening to music throughout the day.

WednesdayBookClub: Self Care Days

Hello, gang! I hope you all are staying cool and hydrated this past week!

So I had two pretty bad meltdowns this past week (One because I was really tired and trying to push myself to do something and the other because I woke up feeling way too aware of my skin) so I'm making sure to prioritize my mental health for a while. I've watched a new movie and I've finally gotten inspired to knit again and it's seemed to unlock something

But enough about me. Let's talk books

So last week, I used my 3 audible credits (I got a deal of 3 months for .99 cents) so I got John Green's Anthroprocene Reviewed (Which I already listened to and adored),  Mary Robinette Kowal's The Calculating Stars and Rebeca Makkai's The Hundred-Year House. I haven't read the last two and the audiobooks aren't at my library so I got them.

I also got approved for Zoey Wallbrook's History Lessons. I've just started a frankly ridiculous knitting project for my mental health so I'll listen to the books while I work on them.

What about you all? Anything good?

WednesdayBookClub: 07/09/25 Checking In

Okay, os I know last week,, I did a check in for everyone with their reading goals but this week, I wanted to check in emotionally? With the flooding in Texas, the heat and the general um, 1940s vibes in the air, I figured I'd ask.

I'm trying to enjoy the last month of vacation before school starts and recovering from the weekend fireworks. It thankfully wasn't that bad in my neighborhood but someone asked me how I was Sunday night and I only realize then how disconnected I was from my body. I still kinda am? I don't know but this is a self care week since I spent the week distracting myself

As for reading, no real reading but I *did* touch grass and played Pokemon! I also did some research for a future video.

What about you all? Anything good?

WednesdayBookClub: 7/2/2025 HALFWAY POINT!

Hello and welcome to WednesdayBookClub, gang!! We're officially halfway through the year and while the vibe is off, we can still use this time to look back on the year and celebrate the good stuff we've read!

Also, go drink water!! It's too hot

WednesdayBookClub: A Heat Wave Book Club 06/25/25

So this week, my seasonal depression decided that this was the exact moment it wanted to rear its ugly head in full bloom. The heat and everyone feeling the need to go outside and be loud seem to be what's kicked it into overdrive so I'm doing self care! Lots of classical music and cold water and some reading!

So let's talk about that!

WednesdayBookClub: 6/4/25 Summer Is Here

Welcome to another book club! It's June, the temps are in the 80s and I have like 5 mosquito bites which means Summer is here!! I hate it already!

I will be staying in front of my emotional support fan and preparing for the worse of it to come soon. But enough about that. Let's talk books

WednesdayBookClub: An Resting Book Club 05/28/25

So the universe saw my reluctance to slow down and focus on the WIPS personally because I nearly fell on my butt yesterday while taking out the trash. I'm fine but I've banged up my knee quite a bit. Not hospital visit bad but I'm keeping my weight off of it until next week.

But enough about me.  Let's talk books

GJ Reviews: "The Blonde Who Came In from the Cold" By Ally Carter

Thank you to Avon and Harper Voyager and NetGalley for giving me an ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own
